EIS appoint Dr Stewart Laing as Director of Performance Support

The EIS is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Stewart Laing as Director of Performance Support.

The Director of Performance Support role is a key position inside the EIS with its management responsibilities, alongside leading and supporting the development of the Heads of Performance Support (HoPS)- a group of individuals who work in National Governing Bodies to lead the sports science and medicine teams.

Stewart joins the EIS Senior Leadership team with a strong level of performance knowledge and experience. He is currently the Performance Director at Short Track Speed Skating, a role he has held since 2015, and previous to this was a key member of the EIS Performance Pathways team.

Speaking about the appointment Stewart said: “This is very exciting opportunity to move into a Director’s role at the English Institute of Sport. I am looking forward to working with a team of really talented Heads of Performance Support to help continue to solve performance questions and work in partnership with sports to deliver world leading expertise as we head closer towards Tokyo 2020.”

EIS National Director Nigel Walker, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Stewart to help develop and connect the leaders of performance support teams across the high performance system and continue to work with sports to help them develop and evolve their What It Takes To Win (WITTW) philosophy.

“I have worked closely with Stewart in his previous role and I have every confidence that he will be an excellent addition to the EIS.”
