EIS recruiting Head of Mental Health
The English Institute of Sport (EIS) is inviting applications for an important new position to lead delivery of the High Performance System Mental Health Strategy, working closely with partners within the EIS, UK Sport and Sports’ World Class Programmes.
EIS staff provide a range of performance-impacting solutions to Olympic and Paralympic sports through a nationwide network of expertise and facilities. It also drives services to optimise athletes’ training programmes, maximise performance in competition and support health and wellbeing.
It is imperative the post-holder is highly collaborative and influential, as well as a respected figure in promoting and supporting positive mental health for athletes, coaches, support staff and other key groups operating in the High Performance System.
Craig Ranson, Director of Athlete Health at the EIS, said: “An emphasis on improving mental health support to athletes and staff is evident right across elite sport – not just in Olympic and Paralympic circles.
“The High Performance System Mental Health Steering Group has produced a strategy with input from representatives from across the UK High Performance System, including the EIS, UK Sport, World Class Programmes, athletes and mental health organisations.
“Accordingly, we’re making sure there are appropriate resources to drive these plans and the Head of Mental Health will assist both the system, and individual World Class Programmes with their mental health support infrastructure.”
For the last four years the EIS has been recognised as one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit organisations to work for. In 2018 it rose to 56th position from 73rd in 2017. Click here to find out what the EIS offers its staff.
