EIS’ Stuart Miller appointed Chief Medical Officer for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics

The British Paralympic Association (BPA) have today announced the appointment of EIS Senior Sports Physician Dr Stuart Miller as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

During Stuart’s time at the EIS, he has been involved in five Paralympic and Olympic Games having been appointed as CMO for the Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016 Paralympics and Head Doctor for London 2012.

Commenting on the appointment Stuart said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity. I thoroughly enjoy working with the British Paralympic Association and the ParalympicsGB team and I’m looking forward to Tokyo 2020. The team is a huge inspiration to me and it’s rewarding to be involved.

“Tokyo 2020 will provide a great platform for the Paralympics GB team and I am proud to have a role advising and treating the athletes and support staff on any medical issues.”

EIS National Director Nigel Walker praised Stuart’s achievement and said: “Stuart’s confirmation as Chief Medical Officer is another example of the crucial role EIS staff play at Paralympic and Olympic games supporting GB athletes.

“The extensive day-to-day support the Institute provides across the high performance system is world class and it is a great achievement to see our staff representing the EIS and supporting athletes.

“With Tokyo 2020 less than two years’ away, Stuart’s vast experience in sport and in particular Paralympic sport will be a great asset to the BPA.”
