EIS weekly roundup – full steam ahead into 2019
After a restful festive break, EIS practitioners and staff have started 2019 as they mean to go on by sharing their knowledge of high performance sport at conferences and events.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, a number of EIS practitioners spoke at the Sports Injuries and Sports Orthopaedics 2019 Conference, sharing their expertise on a range of topics.
Day two saw EIS Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician Anita Biswas presenting on the female athlete triad and relative energy deficiency in sport. Senior EIS psychologist Sarah Cecil spoke around managing psychological recovery from injury, with Physiotherapist Toby Smith and Athlete Health Consultant Steve McCraig leading on returning to play after a bone stress injury and upper limb and rib injuries.

On Thursday, EIS Performance Analyst Amber Luzar, who works with England Hockey spoke to Middlesex University MSc Sport Performance Analysis students and ran a job interview skills session.

Also beginning on Thursday was the International Sports Science Medical Conference at St Mary’s University with Steve McCaig (Athlete Health Consultant) presenting on throwing in cricket.

To end the week, National Director Nigel Walker spoke to Sporting Equals LeaderBoard candidates on governance, career development and how to move into leadership roles. Sporting Equals is a charity promoting ethnic diversity in sport and physical activity.
