For the fourth year running the English Institute of Sport (EIS) has been recognised as one of The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit organisations to work for.

This year the EIS was in 56th position, a rise on last year’s 73rd placing.

Some key findings included:

  • 90% of staff agreed: “I feel that my manager talks openly and honestly with me”
  • 88% of staff agreed: “This job is good for my own personal growth”
  • 95% of staff agreed: “I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation”

Inclusion is based on employee surveys and Best Companies accreditation ranks employers from across the UK, recognising high levels of employee engagement and job satisfaction.

The EIS is the country’s largest provider of sport science, medicine and technology and engineering services to elite sport, supporting 93% of Rio 2016 medal winning Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes, while the Institute also supported athletes and sports at the recent Winter Olympics.

Employees are asked to rate the organisation in eight factors of workplace engagement, including leadership, the company itself and personal growth.

EIS National Director Nigel Walker said: “To be included in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit organisations for the fourth year running is a strong indicator that at the EIS we value our people and aim to provide an enjoyable, whilst challenging, safe working environment.

“Of course, there are improvements to be made and we are now engaging in conversations across the organisation to establish plans to improve things still further to ensure we continue to be seen as the employer of choice for people who wish to work in elite sport.

“The quality of our people and what they give to the EIS is what makes us unique. We need to do all in our power to recruit the best staff, to offer unparalleled career development and personal progression, and ensure the environment is one where they can flourish.”
