The EIS to recruit two new Non-Executive Directors to join board
Great Britain’s largest provider of sport science and medicine to elite sport, the English Institute of Sport (EIS), is recruiting two new Non-Executive Directors to join its board.
The EIS provides support for many of Great Britain’s most successful athletes, having worked with 93% of the athletes and 31 of the 34 sports that won a medal for Team GB and Paralympics GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Both Non-Executive roles have their own particular focus, one being on Science and Technical and the other on Information Management.
For the science and technical role the candidate should have experience and strong understanding of the British high performance sport system.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the EIS and the development of sport science, medicine and technology within the Institute. This role will chair a newly reconstituted Science and Ethics panel of experts from across the high performance system in ensuring the effectiveness and appropriateness of new thinking in science and ethics in high performance sport.
The second vacancy requires a person with experience and a strong understanding of how organisations can make best use of IT, data, information management and analytics to drive a progressive approach.
Additionally, this role will need to bring strong commercial awareness to enable a more commercial approach to drive new opportunities for future funding streams.
Both individuals in these roles will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the EIS as it strives to be the world leading sports institute.
Nigel Walker, EIS National Director, said: “These two important roles can have a huge impact on the future of the EIS. They can not only play their part in directing the organisation at board level but with the particular areas of specialism required, their skills and experience will provide specific knowledge for the EIS at a critical time for sport in the UK.”
