The UKSI launches internship programme for former athletes
The UK Sports Institute (UKSI) is looking for two former athletes to join the newly-launched Performance Lifestyle (PL) Athlete Internship Programme.
Starting after the Paris Games, the six-month internship is designed to give two former athletes work experience and an insight into the work of the UKSI and the high-performance sporting system more generally.
In order to be eligible to apply, athletes must have been in receipt of a UK Sport Athlete Performance Award (APA) as part of a World Class Programme (WCP) during their career.
There are two roles available: one for an athlete from an Olympic sport and one for an athlete from a Paralympic sport.
Head of Performance Lifestyle at the UK Sports Institute Jo Harrison said: “We’re thrilled to offer two exciting internships designed to help athletes gain invaluable job skills and experience, hopefully setting them up for an incredible career beyond competitive sport.
“This opportunity is aimed at individuals with little or no work experience, all you need is passion, enthusiasm, and commitment.”
The UKSI PL Team works with a person-first approach to provide an individual coaching and mentoring service to all WCP athletes. The team’s aim is to support athlete well-being and to encourage and facilitate their personal and professional development alongside their competitive sporting careers as they move on to, through and beyond the WCP.
The deadline to apply is Monday 17 June. Find out more or apply now.
