UK Sports Institute and LifeJacket raise awareness of skin protection for athletes
The UK Sports Institute (UKSI) is joining forces with LifeJacket Skin Protection to enhance athlete well-being by offering skin care support to elite athletes ahead of a busy summer of sport.
This collaborative partnership signifies a commitment by LifeJacket to support athletes affiliated with the UKSI. With a comprehensive range of skin protection products, Lifejacket will extend its support to more than 1000 athletes across 32 different sports. Furthermore, as part of its dedication to enhancing sun protection, LifeJacket will also supply dispensers to several UKSI high performance centres across the country for both athletes and staff to stay protected.
The UKSI’s Athlete Health Team exists to support all aspects of high performance athletes’ physical and mental health, working to identify and support management of priority health problems within individual athletes and sports.
Director of Athlete Health and Performance Data Dr Craig Ranson said: “We’re delighted to collaborate with LifeJacket Skin Protection. Skin protection is often underestimated, but it is a crucial aspect of protecting the health of the athletes we support. While it should be a priority for everyone, sports people often face heightened exposure, making it imperative for us to encourage high quality protection to those we work with.”
Jono Sumner, Co-Founder at LifeJacket Skin Protection said: “At LifeJacket we love to work with those who share our passion and ambition when it comes to skin health, so are delighted to have joined forces with the UKSI as their Skin Protection Partner. Skin protection is an element of athlete health and performance that’s often overlooked but which impacts how elite athletes are able to train, compete and recover. High performance athletes especially are at an elevated risk when it comes to skin damage. Proactive skin protection is central to our message and we look forward to working with the UKSI to raise awareness of the risks of skin damage and provide the information to empower everyone to make informed decisions about their short, medium and long term skin health.”
LifeJacket is dedicated to halting the increase of skin cancer, one of the most prevalent and preventable forms of cancer. Their approach centres on education and the excellence of their products as key strategies in achieving this goal.
