Wheelchair Fencing: Four medals won at IWAS World Cup
Piers Gilliver and Dimitri Coutya collected two medals apiece at the Wheelchair Fencing IWAS (International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation) World Cup in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Earlier this week, Gilliver won Category A gold Epee and Category A silver Sabre in the third qualifier for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo next year.
Reaction from a very happy @PiersGilliver on his win in the men’s epee A at the start of a World Championships year!
He’s also looking forward to the sabre tomorrow…watch out folks!#Sharjah2019 pic.twitter.com/6YC4eabm7G

His training partner, Coutya, was also in great form as he came away with two Category B silver medals in the Foil and Epee categories.
Both athletes train at the Sport Training Village (STV) at the University of Bath, one of eight EIS high performance centres across England. Their day-to-day training is managed by EIS Lead Coach, Peter Rome.
Two silvers at the Men Single Cat B World Cup (Foil and Epee), Sharjah 2019.
This makes it an uninterrupted minimum of double Men Single podium appearances since and including Pisa 2017.
