The UK Sports Institute and UK Athletics have an exciting opportunity for a full time Data Scientist working in Loughborough.

UK Athletics is the national governing body for the sport of athletics - the largest and most popular sport at the Olympic and Paralympic Games – in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. UK Athletics aim to produce world-leading Olympic and Paralympic teams that inspire the nation and provide support and opportunities to anyone capable of achieving success regardless of background.
The discipline of Data Science has developed within the organisation over the last Olympic and Paralympic cycle, with the aim of enhancing the decision making of our Coaches, Athletes, Practitioners and senior leadership team. The Data Scientist role will lead and be responsible for advancing how data is used to inform our understanding of performance, athlete progression and decision making. The role will deliver the data strategy, working closely with Coaches, Head of Performance Support, Sports Science and Medicine Team and Senior Leadership, applying expertise in data integration, analytics and visualisation.
The role will ensure that insights derived from data inform action by connecting with athletes and coaches. In addition, the ability to make our processes more efficient and generate insight will add value to critical areas such as our aligned understanding of athletes training and performance, team selection processes and performance reviewing and planning.
