Strength and Conditioning Coach (British Rowing - Men's Team)
The Opportunity
British Rowing and the UK Sports Institute have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Strength and Conditioning Coach (Men’s squad) role working at the GB Rowing Team (GBRT) National Training Centre (NTC) in Caversham, Reading.
We are seeking to appoint someone who can work effectively as a key member of the Men’s coaching and support team with expertise in developing athletes with world leading physical profiles. You will improve the rowing performance through the development, implementation, and evaluation of the S&C programmes that reflect scientific principles as they relate to adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering, and injury rehabilitation.
The GBRT has a phenomenal track record of performance at the highest levels of Olympic sport and is seeking two exceptional Strength and Conditioning Coaches to form part of the core daily delivery team towards the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
Location:
British Rowing functions out of a bespoke NTC in Caversham (near Reading) where athletes can train both on the water and on land whilst receiving World Class Coaching and Support Services. Some of the gym sessions may also be conducted at the UKSI High-Performance Centre at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre (near Marlow). Due to the nature of the role, delivery will be in person to meet the needs of the sport.Role requirements:
A typical week within the men’s squad would be three weights sessions, that are run from from7:15am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There may be international travel for land-based training camps associated with this role. This will be up to 30 days spread throughout the year, generally in blocks of 13-16 days.GBRT Vision:

A snapshot of the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of Great Britain’s most successful sporting teams. Reporting to the Head Coach (Men) and GBRT Strength and Conditioning lead you will have the opportunity to support the development of an integrated and periodised performance plan that meets the needs of individuals and the goals of the Men’s Olympic squad. As a key member of the core team, you will bring a willingness to integrate with the squad Sports Science and Medicine team including their ways of working.
For you to succeed you will bring enthusiasm, creativity and energy to the role and have a genuine desire to help athletes achieve their performance aspirations.
We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner who can work collaboratively in a demanding performance environment within an interdisciplinary support team. It is important to be accessible, approachable, and visible in this role.
Previous experience within rowing is not essential but a passion to learn more about the sport is.
