Strength and Conditioning Coach - (British Weightlifting Para-Powerlifting)
The Opportunity
The UK Sports Institute and British Weight Lifting have an exciting opportunity for a full time Strength & Conditioning Coach to work with their Para powerlifting World Class Programme in Loughborough
A snapshot of the role
This role will deliver and develop world-class strength and conditioning services for athletes within the Paralympic Powerlifting World Class Programme (WCP).
As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to a high-performance training environment, working collaboratively with National Governing Body (NGB) staff and the performance support team. The primary goal is to enhance athlete performance, mitigate injury risk, and drive success across the performance pathway.
The successful candidate will lead physical preparation strategies, provide consistent and direct coaching support, and contribute to the athletes' holistic performance journey. This includes designing and implementing strength and conditioning programmes informed by scientific principles, including adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering, and rehabilitation. Working at the Loughborough Performance Centre, you will support athlete readiness and availability, both in training and international competition settings.
We’re looking for someone who brings both expertise and empathy to the table. You’ll need to build strong, trusting relationships with athletes, adapt quickly to challenges, and work seamlessly with the wider team. Staying calm under pressure and taking a thoughtful, long-term approach to development are vital. If you’re detail-driven, thrive on collaboration, and have a real passion for learning and pushing boundaries, this role is made for you.
