Para-Athletics Performance
As a highly technical sport, Athletics and Para Athletics use sport science and medical expertise to work closely with athletes and coaches to support their preparation, recovery and performance.
A number of disciplines bring their own technical requirements too, such as the sprints and hurdles, endurance, jumps and throws.
UKSI practitioners deliver support to athletes across the Olympic and Paralympic World Class Programme, at major championships, holding and training camps, on a weekly basis at the National Performance Institute in Loughborough.
Support is tailored to the individual athlete and their discipline, whether that’s a Strength & Conditioning coach working alongside the Paralympic programme for bespoke training support, or a Physiologist travelling to altitude endurance training camps in preparation for major championships or a Biomechanist working with the relay teams to improve handovers.
