Enable and Empower: EIS Performance Data Modules

24 October 2022

In 2022, the English Institute of Sport Performance Data Team created the EIS Performance Data Modules. A key ambition of the Performance Data Strategy is to enable and empower people with the skills and knowledge, to realise the potential of data.

As part of the EIS Performance Hub, a series of modules were created which encompass the entire data lifecycle, creating a data learning journey which was designed by the system, for the system. Each module uses relevant examples, and can be accessed as a sequential pathway or even give you the opportunity to dive straight into a specific module.

The modules range from Data Preparation and Structuring, all the way to Data Visualisation. There are also modules which look at using Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis, providing a base of knowledge to anyone working with data.

Data is a growing skillset necessary for all practitioners, and the Performance Data Modules are now encouraged for all current and new EIS staff to use.

We spoke with Matt Griffiths, EIS Performance Analyst working with England Netball’s Future Roses Academy, on how he is beginning to incorporate his learnings from the modules in his day-to-day role.

Here, Matt explains how the modules have helped him tackle challenges in his current role, and also how the modules are not just for people with a high-level data background, but anyone who is interested in or uses data.
